Apprentice electrician • union-focused • action-first

Turn “waiting for callbacks” into a daily pipeline.

This app adapts Steve Dalton’s 2-Hour Job Search framework into a trades-specific system for a first-year electrical apprentice: build a finite target list, prioritize it, contact humans, follow up, and generate conversations.

Daily execution

Today’s sprint

Non-negotiables

The goal is conversations, not applications. Indeed is a side dish; humans are dinner.

Fastest union path questions

  1. Call IBEW Local 354: 801-972-9354.
  2. Ask how to get on the work list or fastest entry path as a 7-month apprentice.
  3. Ask whether existing hours transfer and whether CW/CE/material handler work is available while waiting.
  4. Ask which signatory contractors are busy right now.
  5. Log the person’s name and follow up by email the same day.

The process

1

Prioritize

Build at least 40 target employers: union hall, signatory contractors, non-union shops, solar, low-voltage, facilities, and GCs.

2

Contact

Find real people. Call offices, ask for hiring/field contacts, and use short emails or texts that ask for advice.

3

Convince

Run 15-minute conversations well: learn what they need, ask who else to talk to, follow up, and keep the pipeline moving.
